Results from Bangkok Poll (an opinion poll conducted by Bangkok university) show that 73.1%of people surveyed is of the belief that the Asean Economic Community (AEC) will boost the bargaining power of the South East Asia region when dealing with the rest of the world.
Only 14.4% said AEC will not increase ASEAN’s bargaining power while 12.5% were uncertain.
Additionally, the poll also highlighted visible changes that were noticed by the respondents since AEC was launched in December 2015. These include larger number of migrant workers (87.3%), mutual assistance among ASEAN members in times of disaster (78.2%), higher job completion (74.5%) and increased cooperation among ASEAN members (67.8%).
